La Petite Colline
Brand Identity

Brand Identity for a Taiwanese Artisan Bakery in Toronto

Overview

La Petite Colline is a Taiwanese artisan bakery and café brand based in Toronto, founded by a Taiwanese entrepreneur and crafted by bakers trained in European and Taiwanese traditions. Built on fresh Canadian ingredients, including local grains, nuts, berries, and maple syrup, the brand reinterprets contemporary Taiwanese bakery culture through natural ingredients, craftsmanship, and warmth.

The identity had to resolve a specific challenge: expressing three cultural origins, Taiwanese, European, and Canadian, within one coherent brand.

Strategy & Concept

The core of the identity is the seal. The Chinese name 山山 is designed as a seal-inspired mark, drawing on the East Asian tradition of the personal stamp and anchoring the brand's cultural roots. The French name, La Petite Colline ("the little hill"), extends the same image: each loaf carries a small mountain of natural ingredients and layered flavors. Two languages, one shared symbol.

The visual system draws directly from the materials of the bakery: neutral tones, kraft paper textures, white baking paper, and uncoated stock, reinforcing warmth, simplicity, and authenticity. Balancing softness with refinement, the identity presents Taiwanese bakery culture through a contemporary and internationally approachable lens.
